Unit position: Students have learned the phrases: some
books, some crayons鈥� in Grade Four. In this
period, they will continue to use indefinite
determiners to refer an unspecified number
of things. They can use nouns to identify
objects and use attributive adjectives to
describe objects. They can ask 鈥榃h-鈥�
questions to find out various kinds of specific
information about a person.

Invite pairs of students to read and act the dialogue. 9. Ask the students to take out their belongings from their schoolbags and put them on their desks. Remind the students to think of the objects they need for some special lessons. 10. Read: Think and write. The students write their lists in their notebooks. Ask a few students to read their lists. 11. Divide the students into pairs. Ask them to use the dialogue in Ask and answer to find out what their partner considers as necessary for school. 1. The whole class work together to make a list of things which they need for school. Encourage the more able students to make a list of unnecessary items for school as well.
