以学生为主体的教学
Oxford English 的特点是:信息量大,贴近学生的生活,富有趣味性。各册教材(一、二年级除外)由三至四个模块组成,而每个模块由若干个单元组成,每个单元涉及该主题的某个侧面,这种编写方式不仅新颖活泼,更重要的是以学生生活为教学主线,而且教学内容接近学生心理需求,尽可能地为学生提供他们感兴趣的内容和语言活动材料,学生很容易地进入角色,真实体验到语言与他们之间的那种密切关系,牛津教材中的“活动作业”(Task based activities) Oxford English没有设计那种为练习而练习语言练习项,而是将语言知识点的训练与学生所喜欢的各种活动结合在一起,学生活动中有明确的目的。这些活动不仅贯穿于学生用书中,也贯穿于各种配套练习用书中,这种设计并不完全是为了提高教材的趣味性,更重要的是为了促进学生在学习语言的同时,发展认知能力,丰富个人体验,扩大认知世界的范围和提高人际交往的能力。
