　　Oxford English 的特点是：信息量大，贴近学生的生活，富有趣味性。各册教材（一、二年级除外）由三至四个模块组成，而每个模块由若干个单元组成，每个单元涉及该主题的某个侧面，这种编写方式不仅新颖活泼，更重要的是以学生生活为教学主线，而且教学内容接近学生心理需求，尽可能地为学生提供他们感兴趣的内容和语言活动材料，学生很容易地进入角色，真实体验到语言与他们之间的那种密切关系，牛津教材中的“活动作业”(Task based activities) Oxford English没有设计那种为练习而练习语言练习项，而是将语言知识点的训练与学生所喜欢的各种活动结合在一起，学生活动中有明确的目的。这些活动不仅贯穿于学生用书中，也贯穿于各种配套练习用书中，这种设计并不完全是为了提高教材的趣味性，更重要的是为了促进学生在学习语言的同时，发展认知能力，丰富个人体验，扩大认知世界的范围和提高人际交往的能力。
