　　6.　　 most new textbooks have some content about cross-cultural communication. teachers must learn to cultivate the learners about the exotic cultures in edifying ways and help them learn to respect and appreciate foreign cultures.

　　7.　　 with the change in content and demands, the teaching media & resources are necessarily taken into consideration. language labs and multi-media rooms become a must in english teaching and learning.

　　8.　　 teachers and students find it necessary and important to turn to the internet for help from time to time and cai coursewares need to be bought or prepared by the teachers themselves, since not everything is handy and the information is constantly and instantly being up-dated.　

　　ii.　　　　　　　 dilemma & reasons

　　the above changes bring about new and higher demands for teachers in conducting their daily teaching and make quite a few teachers feel they are somewhat at a loss and behind the times. the major factors for this dilemma is a bit too complicated as well as too complex.

　　the teaching methods are old and traditional as most of the core teachers aged 35-50 graduated from universities in the 1970s-1990s. for more than two decades they got into the habit of doing their work in the examination-oriented system and working environment, which actually prevented them from thinking more about improving their teaching methods to improve the students’ learning than only helping the students to pass their examinations without caring about improving their actual learning strategies & abilities.

　　the teachers are, relatively speaking, not so knowledge-rich as they should be, due to two main reasons. one is that the teachers mostly have no habit to keep learning or absorbing new knowledge and getting most up-to-date information. they think what they teach is not so difficult. so as time goes by, as they output much more than they input, they feel quite at a loss about how to improve their own knowledge and learning abilities as their pressure about doing their work better is accelerating. now the new global perspective about textbooks and teaching performance will oblige them to strengthen the idea about sustaining life-long study: it’s never too late to learn so they are never too old to learn. if you don’t go forward, you are sure to be left behind.
