　　as for the computer use and it-related teaching methods, it’s not the new era’s fault. it’s the latest greatest human progress in technology and we have no reason to complain that everything is changing so rapidly. the only way is that teachers must force themselves to cope up with the fast-changing world because time and tide wait for no man. moreover computer and it can help us a lot in doing the english teaching more effectively and efficiently.

　　all the dilemmatic difficulties stated above are caused by not only the external factors. there might have been more internal factors for us to take into account. the problem is: are we ready to accept challenge or failure? are we prepared to be left behind? it’s really very urgent for english teachers to update and refresh themselves for the new era, for themselves and for the english education cause, nationwide as well as worldwide.

　　the above discusses the inner actualities in the english teaching scope about textbooks to go with the new curriculum and teachers facing dilemma. now let’s think about the pressure from the outer social environment, national and international.

　　more than two decades has passed since china adopted the open policy. in the past twenty years surprising great changes have taken place and china is now playing a more and more important role in the world economics and international trade. but is china fully and well prepared for more if china is to become a real great country widely-accepted by all other advanced countries in the world? it’s high time that china must have a global perspective about english education and global communication to help education and culture to cope up with the constantly changing world and to stand side by side with all great cultures in the world.
