教学目标
1.知识目标:
(1)能听得懂、会说、会读、会拼写单词postcard, more, thousand, million.
(2)能听得懂、会说、会读日常交际用语:Tell me more about…. How big is it? / Tell me something about… ”等问句,并能回答。
2.能力目标:通过学习,学生能够运用对话句型。
3.情感目标:增进师生间的情感,在运用中体验快乐。
教学重难点
1.重点
(1)单词postcard, more, thousand, kilometre, million的认读和识记。
(2)句型Tell me more about…的运用
2.难点
能够运用How long/big is it? It’s about six thousand seven hundred kilometres. 这类语句谈论一个国家和地方的情况。

教学过程
Step One Warm-up
1. Greetings.
Free talk: Where did you go in summer holiday? Where is it?
【设计意图】亲切的问候和自由的交谈让学生快速的进于英语学习氛围。
Step Two Presentation
1.出示课件:学校图片,师生对照课件进行自由问答。
T: Look, this is a picture of our school. It is very big. How many students are there in our school? 引入thousand并教读、板书,教师强调发音,伙伴相互模仿。
2.师生问答:Tell me more about our school.
板书句子并领读:Tell me more…
3.出示课件:几幅风景明信片:postcard,同时出示句子(学生试读)
A: These postcards are great!
B: Yes, they are.
(最后出示长城)
T: Look at this one, a postcard of the Great Wall. Now, tell me more about the Great Wall. 多给学生一些发言的机会,教师适当的引导学生用学过的形容词。
【设计意图】和学生交流自己所熟悉的学校,以降低学习难度;几幅美丽的风景图,激发了学生的学习兴趣,让学生在欣赏风景的同时接受新知识。和学生谈论中国的名胜古迹长城,既复习了以前所学形容词又引入了新课。
