Teaching aims:
Get the student to know something about the rare animals in China (tigers, pandas, deer,
golden monkeys, red-crowned cranes)
Some important sentences. And discuss about what we should and shouldn`t do.
Teaching aids:
The animals` pictures from the internet; tape recorder: a map
Teaching steps:
I. A Game:
Get the students to say some animals` names, but here a game rule that the next student before says his or her answer must repeat the last one`s answer first. For example, the first one`s
answer is dog, then the second one`s answer is cat, but the second one must say dog cat.
Then one by one. For five to eight minutes.
II. Group work:
Some pictures for the students and get them to know that what they are and they are rare wild animals in China. Then give each group a name by these animals` names. Then three minutes for the students to get some information about these animals in the pink area of Lesson 29.
Then discuss together. During discussing, the teacher will ask some other questions, like can
they run fast? Is it lovely? What is it`s main food? At last, invite some of the students to put
the pictures on the right place of the map, and try to introduce it again. Then the teacher will
ask them to say something about other interesting animals that they know and like.
III. Just read and speak:
Listen to the tape twice, and get the students to repeat some important sentences, like People
are trying to protect them. We should help to do that. These animals are our friends. And, after that, several minutes for the students to discuss about: (a) Why? We call these animals 鈥渞are鈥 animals. (b) What shouldn`t we do? And why?(c) What should we do? And why?
IV. Homework:
To find out some other kinds of rare animals, and try to introduce them.
