Preparation:
Make name cards for Peter and Miss Fang with strings for students to hang around their necks.
Prepare a simple sketch plan of the location of the rooms and facilities in your school.
Make copies of Photocopiable page 23
Steps:
Pre-task preparation:
Reviw the names of the rooms and facities in our school.
Ask Is this/that the 鈥�? to elicit: Yes, it is. / NO, it鈥檚 the 鈥�
While-task procedure:
1. Play the complete dialogue on the tape. The students listen and follow in their books.
2. Play: Excuse me, I鈥檓 new here. Listen and repeat.
3. Play the tape for the rest of the dialogue.
4. In pairs, the students practise: Point, ask and answer, using the sketch plan of the school. Invite individuals to come out to ask Is that/this the 鈥�? and answer: Yes./No, it鈥檚 鈥�
Post-task activities:
1. In groups, students use the school sketch plan to practise the dialogue.
2. Ask the students to use the name cards to act the dialogue in pairs to the class.
3. Distribute Photocopiable page 23. Fill in the missing words and act the story in groups.
Student鈥檚 self-assessment:
In groups, refer the students to the self-assessment sheet on page 60 and have them discuss their opinion about each task in this unit, and what they think they have learned.
