Pre-task preparation
1 Collect some business cards (with English addresses) before class. Circulate the cards in class and tell the students to look at the telephone number and English address on each card. Show them the school's letterhead or envelope. Write the school's English address and telephone number on the board. Read them aloud. Then ask: What's our school's address/telephone number? Ask students to bring a gas bill/electricity bill/telephone bill to class next time.
2 Play the recording: Look and learn. Students listen and follow in their books.
3 Ask one or two students to read the address on the envelope aloud. Then ask: What's Jenny鈥檚 telephone number? to elicit: 6526 3156.
4 Write a few 8-digit telephone numbers on the board. Ask the students to read them aloud. Let them know the different ways of reading the number 鈥�0鈥� and the double numbers, e.g. zero, O, double one, one one, etc.
