  Class Opening and Review

  GREETING

  Greet the students with phrases they know. Make sure you ask the students about the day of the week in the greeting. For example:

  T: Good morning, class. How are you today? S: Fine, thanks.

  T: Whay day is it? S: It鈥檚 ________.

  T: What are you wearing today? S: I鈥檓 wearing __________.

  DRILL

  Quickly review names and concepts for clothing the students have learned, especially the key words: skirt, blouse, pants, shirt, sweater, hat, shoes and socks; new and old; too big and too small. Point to clothes your students are wearing. Use phrases such as:

  Point to a coat.

  Is this/Are these ______ or ______?

  Is this/Are these too big/ too small/ just right?

  What鈥檚 this? What are these?

  Is this/Are these new or old?

  New Concepts

  1. A pair of (pants, shoes, shorts, socks).

  DEMONSTRATE

  T: (The teacher shows a picture of coat/hat/shirt鈥)

  What鈥檚 this? S: It鈥檚 a _________.

  (Then the teacher shows a picture of pants)

  T: What are these? S: Pants.

  T: We can say 鈥渁 pair of pants鈥. (重读a pair of)

  (板书:a pair of pants)

  T: Do you know what鈥檚 the meaning of 鈥渁 pair of鈥?

  S: 一条,一副,一双。(若学生回答不出,教师直接给出解释。)

  T: 鈥淎 pair鈥 means shuang or tiao in Chinese. It refers to two (重读)matching objects. Pants and shorts are 鈥減airs鈥 because they have two legs.

  Say 鈥渁 pair of鈥 with the class a few times.

  The teacher shows the picture of pants, socks, shorts, gloves, boots, shoes, slippers鈥. The class say 鈥渁 pair of _____鈥 together.

  Play the audiotape as the students follow in their books.

  PRACTICE

  (课件:依次显示很多件服装)

  S: These are two pairs of pants.(若学生答不上来,老师给出答案)

  FASHION SHOW

  (老师拿出课前准备好的一些服装)

  T: Now here are many beautiful clothes. Let鈥檚 have a 鈥淔ashion Show鈥. OK? S: OK.

  T: What鈥檚 this? S: It鈥檚 a ______/a pair of______.

  T: Who wants to wear this _______? S: (略)

  (老师把服装分发给学生,然后让学生进行时装表演。每个学生边表演边唱22课歌曲 鈥淗e鈥檚 wearing red pants, on a Sunday morning.鈥澲皇前迅璐驶怀勺约捍┑囊路篒鈥檓 wearing ___________, on a Sunday morning.)

  2. Put on your clothes.

  DEMONSTRATE

  T:(老师边穿衣服边说)I put on my coat.(重读put on)

  Do you know what鈥檚 the meaning of 鈥減ut on鈥?

  S: 穿上,戴上。(板书:put on _________)

  T: Read it, 鈥減ut on鈥. S: Put on.

  (老师与学生边做动作边说)Put on my coat/gloves/shoes/hat/scarf鈥

  Note for the students the difference between 鈥渨ear鈥 (chuan zhe) and 鈥減ut on鈥 (chuan shang). Stress that, unlike Chinese (which simply says chuan shang xie zi, xi lian, xi shou), English usually adds a modifier before the nouns to indicate possession. You have to say put on my/his/her/your/our/their shoes, for example.

  DRILL

  Ask the students to stand and do actions that follow the directions.

  For example:

  T: Put on your coat/shoes鈥

  S: (穿上大衣、鞋子鈥︹)

  STUDENT BOOK: L23 N2

  Play the audiotape, first time the students just listen. Then the teacher asks one question.

  T: Do you know what鈥檚 the meaning of 鈥渨ake up鈥?

  S: 醒来,起床。

  Second time, ask the students read No.2 follow the audiotape.

  3. Story: 鈥淎 New Coat for Li Ming鈥

  PREPARE TO READ

  The teacher asks some students this questions.

  T: My favourite colour is blue. What鈥檚 your favourite colour?

  S: My favourite colour is ___________.

  T: What happens when you outgrow your old coat? How do you get a coat that fits?(必要时可用汉语解释一下。)

  S: (学生自由发言。)

  T: (出示李明图像)Who鈥檚 this?

  S: It鈥檚 Li Ming.

  T: Today we鈥檒l learn a story about Li Ming.(板书:A New Coat for Li Ming)What do you think happens?

  S: (鼓励学生多用英语回答。)

  READ THE STORY

  T: Before the story, I have some questions for you. Look! (课件打出如下问题)

  What is Li Ming wearing?

  What鈥檚 wrong with his old coat?

  Does Li Ming like shopping for a new coat?

  What colour is the new coat?

  Does Li Ming like his new coat?

  Play the story.(播放故事,可参考教参配套光盘)

  Let the students answer the questions. And then play the story again. Third time, the students read the story line by line follow the teacher.

  The teacher can assign the activity book exercise for homework if you run out of time during the lesson.

  MAKE UP A STORY

  Tell the students to make a story of their own called 鈥淎 New ______ for _______(student鈥檚 name)鈥. They can choose any item of clothing they know in English. Tell them to draw pictures and write words in English to help others understand their story.
