  To get information from a reading material

  教学方法:

  Interactive approach, task-based learning, discussion, reading, listening and cooperative-learning

  教学准备:

  A tape recorder, a computer

  教学过程:

  Period 1:

  Step 1:Warm-up

  Look at the pictures and review how to talk about the weather

  Step 2: Presentation

  1、 Ask Ss some questions:

  What鈥檚 the weather like today?

  Do you like go traveling in this weather?

  When you go traveling, what will you bring with you?

  2、Present some new words: camera, swimsuit, umbrella

  3、Ask three students to act as Mickey, Father Christmas, and Bush to lead in the place we will go traveling in --the USA.

  Step 3: Read and answer:

  1、Listen to passage and answer two questions:

  How many places in the USA are mentioned in the passage?

  What are they?

  2、Read after the tape. Decide what you can see in the photos and say the sentences True or False.

  a. It鈥檚 too hot in May in New York.

  b. It鈥檚 fall in September in New England.

  c. It鈥檚 4,000 kilometers from Los Angeles to New England.

  d. You can鈥檛 swim in Los Angeles in December.

  e. It鈥檚 bright all day in winter in Alaska.

  3、Finish activity 2: complete the sentences.

  4、Read the passage.

  5、Complete the sentences.

  a. 他有时给我发邮件。

  He sends me emails .

  b. 照些动物的相是一个好主意。

  It鈥檚 a good idea to ______ animals.

  c. 比起其它城市,住在珠海很舒适。

  It鈥檚 pleasant to live in Zhuhai other cities.

  Step 4: Practice

  Task 1: Information card

  Place Best time to visitReason

  New York and Washington D.C.

  New England

  Los Angeles, California

  Alaska

  Texas

  Task 2: group work:

  Divide the Ss into groups. Different groups are different travel agents.

  1、Decide your travel agent鈥檚 name.

  2、Make a report to sell the travel of the USA to attract the tourists.

  3、Show the reports.

  Step 5: Homework:

  1、Finish the exercises in workbook P153.

  2、Copy the words of Unit 2.

  Period 2:

  Step 1:Warm-up

  Do some exercises:

  a. It might rain, so bring an (雨伞) with you.

  b. The war between the two (国家) ended ten years later.

  c. Digital (相机) are getting cheaper and cheaper.

  d. The weather in Kunming is (舒适)。

  Step 2:Revision

  1、Ask Ss some questions about the passage they have learned:

  How many places in the USA are mentioned in the passage?

  What are they?

  2、Watch a video about New York to know more things about the USA.

  Step 3:Presentation:

  1、Read some advice and explain why.

  Wear warm clothes

  Bring an Umbrella

  Buy a good map.

  2、Task1: Group work:

  To solve the problems in groups and give reasons:

  English is too difficult for me to learn.

  Step 4:Practice:

  1、Finish activity 4: match the two parts of the sentences.

  2、Task2: Writing :

  a. Write some advice for visiting your town and give the reasons. Use because, so and but.

  b. Change your ideas with your group members.
